Essential Elements of Association Management

In 2020, TSAE is moving our “Essential Elements of Association Management” course online to an eight-part webinar series.

This series is designed to provide a baseline for professionals with three or less years in the association industry.

Programs will be presented live throughout the year and archived for individual on-demand viewing. A full “Essential Elements of Association Management” on-demand package will also be available following the conclusion of the program later this year.

Key Elements and Processes of Government Relations

In this presentation, you will learn what is important in creating and/or improving the organizational elements of an effective governmental affairs program. You will also learn where the focus should be on developing advocacy tactics and strategies.

Presented by: Joe Gagen, a former TSAE board member, has been involved professionally in political and legislative matters for most of his professional career. Among other things, he chaired the Texas agency responsible for workers’ compensation, served as general counsel to the Texas Senate State Affairs Committee and was a legislative aide in the Texas House of Representatives. He was executive director of a statewide political organization and served from 2006 to 2011 as CEO for Texas CASA, a statewide nonprofit organization advocating for children in foster care. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate having received both his B.A. with Honors and his J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin
