Essential Elements of Association Management

In 2020, TSAE is moving our “Essential Elements of Association Management” course online to an eight-part webinar series.

This series is designed to provide a baseline for professionals with three or less years in the association industry.

Programs will be presented live throughout the year and archived for individual on-demand viewing. A full “Essential Elements of Association Management” on-demand package will also be available following the conclusion of the program later this year.

In many cases in association management, your education offerings, events and conferences are how your membership connects to your association and each other. This session will define association events, explore ways to encourage networking and discover strategies to structure your events to increase engagement.

Presented by: Julie Courtney, CAE, CMP. Julie is President of IBAT Services Inc. She has been a part of the IBAT team for 20 years, with progressive responsibility, serving in several departments before leading the association’s for-profit company of endorsed service providers. In her previous role as President of the Foundation, she was responsible for the planning and implementation of more than sixty live meetings, two of IBAT’s signature conferences, two schools and more than 150 webcasts each year.

Volunteer Engagement

From boards to committees, volunteers play important roles in forward an association's mission. This session explores methods associations use to engage working effectively with volunteers. As part of The Essential Elements of Association Management, this session along with the others in the series will provide a baseline for new professionals in the association industry.

Presented by: Mary Beth Kiser joined Strategic Association Management as a Director in 2020, following a 17-year career in association and nonprofit management. From 2011 to 2019, Mary Beth served as the President and CEO of Beyond Batten Disease Foundation and led the organization’s efforts to raise awareness and funds for research for a cure for juvenile Batten disease. In that role, she drove strategic priorities and oversaw all areas of the foundation’s operations. Before joining the foundation, Mary Beth was the COO of Texas Land Title Association.
