Meet the 2016 Class of Leadership TSAE

Leadership TSAE is a nine-month program designed to help participants develop well-rounded skills and a broader knowledge base to enhance their professional abilities and make them a more valuable leader at their association.  

We are excited to introduce you to our 2016 class!

Timothy Brooks

Manager of Membership and Admissions, American Mensa

As Membership and Admissions Manager, Timothy maintain the high standards of what it takes to qualify for membership. He is responsible for the network of proctors nationwide and maintains the integrity of the supervised testing program. He is also in charge of the recruitment and retention efforts of the office. He has a bachelor’s degree in communication studies with a focus on psychology from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.

Joy EnglaNd

Membership Director, Association of Texas Professional Educators

Joy is the Membership Director for ATPE. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Development from Texas A&M University and has served in many roles throughout the 17 years she has worked in association administration and management. She currently resides in Georgetown with her husband and two daughters.

Alina Greavu

Communications Specialist, Independent Bankers Association of Texas

Alina is the Communications Specialist at IBAT. Originally from Romania, Alina moved to Texas when she was 12. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies at Texas State University in 2008. She joined the association world that same year and quickly rose into a leadership role within IBAT’s internal production team before moving to the communications department four years later. Throughout her association career, Alina has been dedicated to her professional growth by earning certifications in Microsoft and Adobe software suites.

Marilyn Jones

Director of Finance/Membership, Associated Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Contractors of Texas

Marilyn am a native Texan who earned a BBA (Accounting) at Baylor University and MBA (Finance) at St. Edward’s University.  She is also a Certified Public Accountant and has more than 30 years of accounting experience with the public, private, and governmental sectors. She is new to associations and anxious to learn more!

Lindsey Jost

Marketing and Communications Manager, Career and Technology Association of Texas

Lindsey executes the marketing and communication efforts for membership, professional development conferences, and the association. Prior to joining CTAT, she coordinated the marketing and advertising campaigns for Covenant Health System, one of the largest health care systems in Texas. Lindsey graduated with honors with a B.A. in Public Relations from Texas Tech University.

Allison Kaminsky

Communications Director, Texas Rural Water Association

Allison is the Communications Director for TRWA. She has 10 years of experience as a communications professional, six of which are in the nonprofit sector. Allison holds her B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications from NMSU, and her M.A. in Communication Studies from the UNLV.

Julie Marshall, CMP

Meetings and Sponsorships Manger, State Bar of Texas

Julie has been married to her amazing husband for twenty years and is lucky to be mom to two teenagers, Grayson and Tessa. An avid photographer and reader, Julie is happiest when spending time with her family and is blessed to have a challenging job that she loves.

Dr. Alice Owen

Executive Director, Texas K12 CTO Council

Alice is the Executive Director of the Texas K12 CTO Council, the state chapter of COSN, which supports school district chief technology officers throughout Texas. She retired from education after 38 years, with a background in curriculum, evaluation, professional development, and project management. She has served on the COSN Board, has been Chair of the Texas K-12 CTO Council, and chaired the International Society for Technology in Education’s (ISTE) Special Interest Group. In 2012, Alice was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award for Technology in Education TCEA and also the award for ISTE’s Outstanding Leader.

Rachel Robichaud

Director of Professional Development, Promotional Products Association international

Rachel oversees educational programming for all live events, online learning and certification programs for PPAI. She has been in education for over 12 years and developed and delivered content for Meeting Professionals International, American Airlines, and Hewlett Packard.

Aaron Setliff

Director of Public Policy, Texas Council on Family Violence

Aaron is responsible for the TCFV’s legislative initiatives at the Texas capitol including leading efforts to attain over $150 million in funding for family violence services. He coordinates the programmatic interface between coalition partners and the state funders and provides statewide domestic violence coordination, as well as supervision of ten policy team members. Aaron previously served as the chief of the Domestic Violence Unit with the 34th Judicial District of Texas in El Paso, where he had responsibility for the district attorney’s response to domestic violence.

Jessica A. Smith

Assistant Executive Director, International Order of the Golden Rule

Jessica has worked at OGR for three years, first as Education Director and now as Assistant Executive Director. Prior to joining OGR, she worked as a university professor in Virginia. She has a master’s degree from Old Dominion University and a bachelor’s from Christopher Newport University. Her hobbies include two-stepping, traveling, and hiking.

Amber Townsley

Manager, Continuing Competence Approval Program, Texas Physical Therapy Association

Amber stumbled into the association world by taking a temp position and immediately felt like that was right where she needed to be. After a short break to do something else, she missed the association environment and couldn't wait to get back on track. She is looking to increase my leadership abilities and become an even better asset at her current employer and for any future employer.

Valerie Villarreal

Digital and Social Media Director, APRO/Association of Progressive Rental Organizations

Valerie is a South Texas native and earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing in 2007 from St. Edward’s University in Austin. She has since been working within the marketing industry, primarily focused on project management and communications, and most recently transitioned into association management at APRO. She has an incredibly strong work ethic that was instilled by her family who is the core of her inspiration to be a great leader.
