TSAE Honors first “Making a Difference” Award Winner at Celebration Luncheon

On Wednesday, December 12, 2012, TSAE honored Mariano "Bean" Ayala, President/CEO of the Brownsville CVB its first “Making a Difference” Community Service award winner at the Celebration Luncheon held at the Westin Austin at the Domain

Introduced in 2012, the award honors members who are making significant contributions to their community through their time, actions, talents and dedication. This person serves as a role model for compassion and service and strives to make the world a better place.

Mr. Ayala was recognized for his ongoing dedication to community events in Brownsville. One of his most significant contributions was helping with the organization and promotion of the Build a Better Block project, a community driven effort to create demonstration projects throughout downtown Brownsville to actively engage citizens in the revitalization process and provide feedback in real time..

Additionally, he was active in reading to students at local libraries as part of a United Way campaign, acted as Master of Ceremonies at multiple community events, and served as a guest speaker during the Kayak races, a new movement started to promote healthy living in Brownsville.

TSAE’s Celebration Luncheon, previously known as the Holiday Luncheon, takes place each December. In addition to the award recognition, the event features a motivational speaker, charity toy drive, and opportunity for members to network.
