TSAE Announces New Executive Director

October 27, 2016

In culmination of a nationwide search, the Texas Society of Association Executives (TSAE) is pleased to announce the selection of its new Executive Director Steven Stout, CAE, effective November 28, 2016.

Stout will lead TSAE following 14 years of service to Hospitality Financial & Technology Professionals (HFTP®), an international hospitality association, where he has held a variety of roles. At HFTP, he most recently served as the Director of Meetings & Special Events, overseeing the execution of all of the association’s conferences. This included HITEC®, the world's largest conference dedicated specifically to hospitality technology.

A widely recognized leader both in the Texas and national association industry, Stout is a past TSAE Board member (2011-14), participant in the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP), TSAE Young Professional Leadership Award recipient, USAE Magazine & The Association Forum of Chicagoland's 40 Under 40 honoree, and one of Association TRENDS magazine's Young & Aspiring Association Professionals. He has served on numerous councils for both TSAE and ASAE.

"TSAE cast a wide net to find the association’s next Executive Director,” said Chairman JJ Colburn.  “So, it is especially gratifying to be able to turn to one of our own members of the Texas association community to lead TSAE forward with great vision. Steven is innovative and creative and has deep passion for our industry. His breadth of experience makes him uniquely qualified to support our members who turn to TSAE to become better in their roles. We are excited about what we will accomplish together in Texas."

“I am honored and humbled to be selected as the new Executive Director for TSAE,” said Stout. “I have always believed in the mission of the association, and it is because of TSAE’s education and community of professionals that I am prepared for this next step.

“I am eager to put my passion and skillset, built by this organization, to use to continue driving TSAE into the future as the chief staff executive,” Stout added.

Stout has a bachelor’s degree in business communication and public relations from Baylor University. He received his Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation in 2009.
