The recent downturn in the economy demonstrates clearly that success cannot be taken for granted. Many associations that flourished in the 90’s have recently found themselves struggling to meet payroll. Organizations that had measures in place were able to see the icebergs in the distance and avoided collisions.  Michael Gallery, PhD, CAE, chair of the 7 Measures project and President of OPIS, will engage participants in a discussion of how to develop an ongoing organizational plan that will keep the organization in line with its strategic direction in a sea of constant change. Participants will interact with the facilitator on their specific organizational challenges and will develop an assessment plan tailored to their specific needs.

Jim Collins, author of Good to Great coined the expression Level V leader as a CEO who is more “like Lincoln and Socrates than Patton or Caesar.” The book,7 Measures of Success discovered a similar pattern. CEO’s of great associations are brokers of ideas. These leaders understand that developing a collective vision is critical to success. Michael Gallery, PhD, CAE, chair of the 7 Measures project and President of OPIS, will engage participants in a discussion of the critical elements of success for CEO’s in associations. While there is no one right model, there are certainly models and practices to avoid. The group will share their experiences and collective insights of the successful CEO of today and the future.
