Social Media in 2015

A common discussion among association staff is social media. Which platform to use, how often to post, which staff member is responsible for managing it, what do your members want, etc.

One of our most popular speakers, Beth Ziesenis (Your Nerdy Best Friend), recently shared a post written by a University of Texas student on their views of the different social media platforms. While it does not specifically address what associations should be doing, it is a great overview of most of the social media avenues and a first-hand look at what those about to enter the workforce think of each of them (some of which I had never heard of).

Associations need to be aware of and utilize some form of social media. You can no longer think it does not apply to your organization. What is important is finding which one of these your members are most likely to be on and where and how they want to engage with your organization.

I think you will enjoy reading this article for both your work and personal life (especially if you think you are top of things with your teenagers).

ps - Beth Z will be back in Austin keynoting Tech Talks on April 29. Check out her presentations as well as all the other great education we have compiled.
